Scottish Detainee Visitors regularly recruits new visitors. We are particularly keen to expand the language
skills of the organisation. We are also keen to recruit more male volunteers and drivers with cars. To learn more about the
role of an SDV visitor, download a visitor job description here:

SDV holds interviews for new visitors every two months. The interviews are informal and are with a couple
of members of our management committee. Once accepted, you will be asked to attend an induction session - also held every
two months. At your induction you will learn more about Dungavel and about SDV.
We ask that visitors commit to visiting for at least three months - most stay with us a lot longer! Visitors
visit between two and four times a month. We hold regular
visitor updates where visitors can share issues of concern that arise at visits. We also invite speakers on topics concerned
with asylum, immigration and detention so that visitors can continually update their knowledge. We also hold regular formal
training sessions for visitors.
